This short tutorial is for beginners who are new to Web3 and DeFi.

The best and easiest way to get Ecology Token is to follow these steps:

• Download a digital wallet and connect to Polygon. We recommend MetaMask.  You can download MetaMask extension in your browser here, or download the mobile app on iPhone or Android device. You can use other Web3 wallets such as Coinbase Wallet, Torus, Brave, MyEtherWallet, etc.

• Load your wallet with POL tokens. POL is the native token that powers the Polygon network. Every transaction you execute on Polygon will require a few cents worth of POL to pay the network fee.

• Swap for Ecology Token. Sushi is a Decentralized Exchange where you can instantly trade some of your POL tokens for Ecology Tokens at the lowest possible price.

Download a digital wallet and connect to Polygon.

The following is for MetaMask extension in your browser which can be downloaded here.

After installing MetaMask and entering your credentials, remember to pay close attention to your uniquely assigned "seed phrase." We recommend storing the phrase in a memorable safe and secure spot.  You will need to add the Polygon Network to MetaMask.  This is done only once. 

Go to:

On the bottom of the page, there is a button to Add Polygon Network.  Press the button and go to MetaMask and follow the prompts. That's it! You have Polygon Network added to your MetaMask.

Also, there is an advance (more difficult) way to add the Polygon Network to MetaMask.

Click on the left list box.

Then click Add Network:

Select Polygon Mainnet

Load your wallet with POL tokens

Use MoonPay or Transak or a centralized exchange like Robinhood or Coinbase to buy Polygon POL and send it to your newly created wallet.

Be sure that the POL tokens are sent to your new wallet address which can be copied under Account setting:

Be sure to buy and send the POL through the Polygon network. Some exchanges such as Coinbase will ask you which network to send the POL tokens. Make sure to always choose Polygon.

Swap for Ecology Token on Sushi

Connect MetaMask to Sushi by Clicking on MetaMask browser extension icon.

Note: these instructions are for MetaMask Digital wallet users only. Sushi supports a variety of different wallets.

If not already done so, log into your MetaMask Wallet.

In a separate browser tab, visit Sushi and click "Connect" at the top-right corner.  You will get a list of supported digital wallets.  Choose MetaMask.

Go to MetaMask and make sure you are connecting to the correct site by clicking Next and then Connect:

When you return to the Sushi tab in your browser, you should see that your MetaMask address is now visible in the top right corner.

Finally, use the drop down menu on Sushi to switch to the Polygon network.

Swap MATIC for Ecology Token

After connecting your wallet and switching to the Polygon network, you should now be able to swap from MATIC to your chosen Ecology Token.

Important note: don't swap all your MATIC for Ecology Token. Save at least 0.3 POL to pay for future transaction fees.

You will need to return to your wallet to approve and authorize the transactions.

FAQ

Why do I need to purchase POL first?

Ecology Token operates on the Polygon blockchain, and POL is the fuel that powers all transactions on the network. It is not possible to complete a transaction without paying the transaction fee in POL. This means that you will need to pay a small amount of POL for the following actions: purchasing any Ecology Token, exchanging between different tokens, and sending tokens to another wallet. 

Is It Possible to Buy Ecology Token Directly with a Credit Card?

Yes, some providers, such as Transak, offer the option to purchase Ecology Token directly with a credit card for a fee. However, if your wallet doesn't have POL, you won't be able to transfer or perform other actions. For this reason and to secure the best market rate, it is recommended to purchase POL directly and exchange it for Ecology Token on Sushi.

Why Isn't Ecology Token Listed on Coinbase or Other Centralized Exchanges?  Why use Sushi?

Ecology Token is not listed on centralized exchanges like Coinbase, Binance, or Crypto.com as these platforms typically charge high listing fees and require significant financing from costly market makers. Instead, Ecology Token is traded on a decentralized exchange (DEX) powered by smart contracts that run directly on the blockchain. DEXs have several advantages, including allowing the decentralized autonomous authority (DAO) to maintain a majority of the liquidity, ensuring autonomy and generating revenue to pay contributors. What If I Prefer a Different Exchange But They Don't Sell Polygon POL?
